Bundesliga News: Frankfurt Wins Nine-Goal Thriller, Kiel Claim First Win
Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig played in a memorable game on Saturday, serving up a total of 9 goals between the two sides.
The Reds, who could only draw against Schalke in their first game, also conceded an early goal against Leipzig when Christopher Nkunku crossed to Andre Silva, who gave the hosts an early 1-0 lead in just the 6th minute of the game.
Djibril Sow levelled the score in the 23rd minute but Leipzig quickly restored their one-goal lead through Dominik Szoboszlai just before the half-hour mark.
Frankfurt's Jesper Lindstrom equalised for the second time on the night in the 40th minute before Szoboszlai conjured up his second goal just before the break. Then came a flurry of goals in the second half, with Sow completing his brace in the 51st minute before Lindstrom put Frankfurt ahead for the first time in the game in the 58th minute.
Stuttgart's Borna Sosa made it 5-4 to Leipzig in the 67th minute, but the hosts had the last laugh when Rafael Borre gave Frankfurt a 6-5 lead in the 84th minute.
Despite the late drama, Ajdin Hrustic scored a stunning goal in the 90th minute to earn a 7-5 victory in favour of the hosts.
The result leaves Frankfurt in 6th place with 4 points from two games while Leipzig sit one place below them with the same number of points.
Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, Holstein Kiel claimed their first victory of the new season with a narrow 1-0 away win against Karlsruher SC.
After playing out a goalless draw against Paderborn and losing 3-0 to Hamburger SV, the Storks recorded all three points thanks to a Fabian Reese goal in the 55th minute.
The win elevates Holstein Kiel to 13th in the league, while Karlsruher SC have dropped to the bottom of the standings after two losses in their opening three games.
