Hat Trick Topples Tennessee as UK Finishes Unbeaten at Home

Lexington, Kentucky – February 28, 2023

The University of Kentucky women's basketball team defeated the University of Tennessee Lady Volunteers 84-65 on Tuesday night at Rupp Arena. The win gives the Wildcats their first undefeated home record in program history and moves them to 24-5 overall and 13-3 in the SEC.

Rhyne Howard Scores 32, Secures Hat Trick

Rhyne Howard led the way for Kentucky with 32 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists. The performance marked her third consecutive hat trick, and she now has 25 for her career, which is the most in program history.

Dre'una Edwards added 20 points for the Wildcats, while Jada Walker chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Treasure Hunt came off the bench to score 12 points and grab 10 rebounds.

Tennessee was led by Jordan Horston, who scored 22 points. Tamari Key added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Vols, who fall to 20-7 overall and 11-4 in the SEC.

The Wildcats shot 52.4% from the field, including 42.9% from three-point range. Tennessee shot just 37.1% from the field and 27.3% from three-point range.

Kentucky outrebounded Tennessee 43-37 and had 18 assists to Tennessee's 12. The Wildcats also forced 17 turnovers by the Lady Vols.

The win was Kentucky's first over Tennessee since 2019 and snapped a three-game losing streak to the Lady Vols. It was also Kentucky's first win over a ranked opponent since defeating Mississippi State on January 19.

With the win, Kentucky finishes the regular season with a 13-3 record at Rupp Arena. It is the first time the Wildcats have gone undefeated at home since the 2013-14 season.

Kentucky will return to action on Sunday, March 5, when they travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas, to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks. Tennessee will return to action on Thursday, March 2, when they host the Alabama Crimson Tide.
