MHK Spartak beats Dynamo Saint Petersburg away in overtime (3:2 OT) again

Spartak takes the win in the second away game against the Saint Petersburg team

On Monday, January 9, 2023, the MHK Spartak hockey players played their 39th regular season game of the 2022/23 season, facing off against Dynamo Saint Petersburg on the road.

The teams came into the game after facing each other in Moscow four days prior, with Spartak winning 3:2 in overtime. The young Spartacus players were looking to repeat their success in Saint Petersburg.

The game started off with plenty of back-and-forth action, but neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first period. Spartak was able to break the deadlock in the second period, with Daniil Sobolev scoring a power-play goal at 16:21. However, Dynamo was able to tie the game just over two minutes later, with Pyotr Kochetkov scoring at 18:27.

The third period was a tight-checking affair, with both teams having chances to score but neither able to find the go-ahead goal. The game went to overtime, and it was Spartak who was able to come away with the win. Vladislav Kolyachonok scored the game-winning goal at 3:42 of overtime, giving Spartak a 3:2 victory.

The win was Spartak's third in a row, and it moved them into a tie for third place in the Western Conference standings. Spartak will look to continue their winning ways on Wednesday, January 11, when they host SKA Saint Petersburg at home.
