Nate Robinson Returns as Honorary Captain for Huskies vs. USC
Legendary Husky makes third appearance as honorary captain
Former NBA star to lead team onto field for Saturday's game
Nate Robinson, a former University of Washington men's basketball standout and NBA champion, will return to Husky Stadium on Saturday, September 9th, as an honorary captain for the Huskies' football game against the University of Southern California (USC).
This will be Robinson's third time serving as an honorary captain for the Huskies. He previously led the team onto the field for the 2016 Apple Cup and the 2019 season opener against Eastern Washington University.
Robinson, a Seattle native, played for the Huskies from 2002 to 2005 and was a member of the 2005 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight team. He was selected by the Phoenix Suns with the 21st overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft and went on to play for nine different teams during his 11-year NBA career.
Robinson won an NBA championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008 and was a three-time Slam Dunk Contest champion. He retired from the NBA in 2016 and has since worked as a basketball analyst and coach.
The Huskies are excited to welcome Robinson back to Husky Stadium as an honorary captain. He is a true Husky legend and a great role model for our student-athletes.
The game against USC will be a big one for the Huskies, who are looking to start the season 2-0. The Trojans are a perennial powerhouse and will be a tough test for the Huskies.
But with Robinson leading the team onto the field, the Huskies will be ready to give it their all. He is a winner and a competitor, and he will help the Huskies bring the energy and intensity they need to beat USC.
