Pitt’s Sharks have the Panthers lurking
Recent success puts Pitt back in the discussion for ACC Title
The Panthers had plenty of turnover from last season's team, which went 11-3 and finished second in the ACC Coastal Division. But Narduzzi has done a good job of re-stocking the roster with talented players, and Pitt should be a contender for the division title again in 2023. One of the biggest reasons for optimism is the return of quarterback Kedon Slovis. Slovis, a transfer from USC, threw for 3,125 yards and 21 touchdowns last season. He'll be one of the best quarterbacks in the ACC this season.
Panthers will be tested early
Pitt will have a tough schedule in 2023, but the Panthers should be up to the challenge. They open the season with a game against West Virginia in Morgantown. The Mountaineers are a rival of Pitt's, and the game should be a good test for both teams. Pitt also has games against Penn State, Louisville, and Wake Forest on the schedule. The Panthers will need to play well in these games if they want to win the ACC Coastal Division.
Pitt's defense should be one of the best in the ACC in 2023. The Panthers return eight starters from last season's team, which ranked 12th in the country in scoring defense. Pitt also has a number of talented newcomers who could make an impact on the defense this season.
Offense has plenty of weapons
The Panthers' offense should also be productive in 2023. Slovis will have plenty of weapons to work with, including wide receivers Jared Wayne and Konata Mumpfield. Wayne and Mumpfield are both talented playmakers who could have big seasons in 2023. The Panthers also have a solid running game, led by Israel Abanikanda. Abanikanda rushed for 1,491 yards and 20 touchdowns last season. He'll be one of the best running backs in the ACC this season. Pitt's offense should be able to score plenty of points in 2023.
Pitt has a lot of potential in 2023. The Panthers have a talented roster, and Narduzzi is a good coach. Pitt should be a contender for the ACC Coastal Division title in 2023.
