Short backs Harris to take Batting spot
🏏 Australia has picked 25-year-old batter, Sean Abbott to reclaim his place for the West Indies tour coming up
The fringe all-rounder has been rewarded for his one-day form after last playing a Test three years ago
Abbott is coming off a successful one-day series against England, where he scored 93 and 54 and took nine wickets in three matches.
The 25-year-old was part of Australia's Test squad for the Ashes last year but did not play a game.
He has played eight Tests for Australia, scoring 170 runs at an average of 24.28 and taking 25 wickets at 35.12.
Abbott is expected to bat in the middle order for Australia in the West Indies, with Matthew Wade likely to open the batting and Alex Carey to keep wicket.
The West Indies tour will be Australia's first Test series since the Ashes, which they lost 4-0.
The Aussies will be looking to bounce back from that defeat and will be confident of doing so with a strong batting line-up.
Abbott's inclusion in the squad is a sign of the selectors' faith in the all-rounder, who has shown good form with both bat and ball in recent months.
He will be hoping to make the most of his opportunity and cement his place in the Australian Test team.
The West Indies tour will be a tough test for Australia, but they will be confident of success with Abbott in their ranks.
