Texas Tech QB Behren Morton Injures Non-Throwing Shoulder in Loss at TCU
Morton's Status for Week 5 Game Uncertain
Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton suffered a non-throwing shoulder injury in the Red Raiders' 52-21 loss at TCU on Saturday, coach Joey McGuire said Monday.
McGuire said Morton's status for this week's game against West Virginia is uncertain. He did not specify the nature of the injury.
Morton was injured on a quarterback run in the first quarter. He finished the game but was clearly in pain and did not play in the second half.
Other Key Points:
- Morton has started all four games for Texas Tech this season.
- He has thrown for 948 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions.
- He has also rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns.
- If Morton is unable to play, Donovan Smith is expected to start at quarterback for the Red Raiders.
- Smith, a redshirt freshman, has not played in a game this season.
Texas Tech (2-2) will host West Virginia (2-2) on Saturday at Jones AT&T Stadium. The game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. ET.
