The Washington Capitals Win Again!
Capitals Defeat Blue Jackets 4-1 In Home Game
There was plenty of scoring in the last game between the Washington Capitals and the Columbus Blue Jackets last night. The game started off slow, but the Capitals took the lead in the second period and never looked back.
The Capitals opened the scoring with a goal by Alex Ovechkin. He was assisted by Evgeny Kuznetsov and Dmitry Orlov. To start the third period, the Blue Jackets tied the game up 1-1.
Forty seconds later, the Capitals answered back with a goal by Nicklas Backstrom. Anthony Mantha netted a goal shortly after, giving the Capitals a 2-goal lead.
The Blue Jackets couldn't recover from that, and the Capitals scored an empty-net goal with about 8 minutes left in the game.
Capitals Win Fourth Straight Game
With this win, the Capitals have now won four straight games and are in first place in the Metropolitan Division. Ovechkin's goal was his 16th of the season, while Backstrom's was his eighth. Mantha's goal was his fourth of the season.
The Capitals will be back in action on Thursday night when they travel to take on the New York Rangers. The Blue Jackets will be back in action on Friday night when they host the Buffalo Sabres.
