Lea County, New Mexico, is currently under a tornado warning and a flash flood warning, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The NWS issued the tornado warning at 5:45 p.m. MDT and the flash flood warning at 6:00 p.m. MDT.
Tornado Warning for Lea County
The tornado warning is in effect until 7:00 p.m. MDT and includes the following areas:
- The city of Hobbs
- The town of Eunice
- The community of Jal
The NWS advises residents in the affected areas to take shelter immediately. If you are outside, seek shelter in a sturdy building or underground. If you are in a vehicle, pull over to the side of the road and stay inside.
Flash Flood Warning for Lea County
The flash flood warning is in effect until 10:00 p.m. MDT and includes the following areas:
- The city of Hobbs
- The town of Eunice
