Warriors' Win Keeps Playoff Hopes Alive
The Golden State Warriors snapped a three-game losing streak with a much-needed 122-108 victory over the Houston Rockets on Friday night at the Toyota Center. Stephen Curry was brilliant in the third quarter, scoring 22 points to help the Warriors take control of the game. Curry finished with a game-high 36 points, while Klay Thompson added 25 points and Draymond Green had 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists.
The Warriors improved to 18-17 with the win and remain in ninth place in the Western Conference. The Rockets fell to 10-24 with the loss and are now in last place in the Southwest Division.
The Warriors got off to a slow start, trailing by 10 points at the end of the first quarter. However, they rallied in the second quarter, outscoring the Rockets 34-19 to take a one-point lead into halftime.
Curry took over the game in the third quarter, scoring 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field. The Warriors outscored the Rockets 36-23 in the third quarter to take a 90-75 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Warriors held on in the fourth quarter to secure the victory. Curry hit a key three-pointer with just over two minutes remaining to give the Warriors a 115-103 lead. The Rockets never got closer than seven points the rest of the way.
The Warriors' win was a much-needed one, as they had lost their previous three games. The win keeps the Warriors in the playoff race, as they are now just 1.5 games out of eighth place in the Western Conference.
The Warriors will be back in action on Sunday night when they host the Sacramento Kings at the Chase Center.
