SEATTLE - The Washington Huskies will welcome back one of their most decorated players when they host USC on Saturday, as former quarterback and current NFL star Jake Browning will serve as honorary captain for the Pac-12 showdown.
Browning, who led the Huskies to a College Football Playoff appearance in 2016, will be honored for his contributions to the program. The Elk Grove, Calif., native was a three-year starter for Washington, throwing for 12,824 yards and 93 touchdowns during his career.
Browning was also a standout baseball player for the Huskies, earning All-Pac-12 honors in 2016. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 19th round of the 2016 MLB Draft, but opted to pursue a football career.
Browning is currently a quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings. He has appeared in 10 games for the Vikings this season, completing 64.2% of his passes for 1,349 yards and six touchdowns.
"Jake is one of the most successful players in Washington history," Washington coach Kalen DeBoer said. "He's a great representative of our program and we're excited to have him back on campus."
Browning will lead the Huskies onto the field for Saturday's game against USC, which is scheduled to kick off at 12:30 p.m. PT at Husky Stadium.
