Rockdale's Loss to Newton
Friday night's non-region football game with Newton did not go as planned for Rockdale County High School's Bulldogs. The Bulldogs fell to the Rams 42-21.
A Tough Start for the Bulldogs
Rockdale fell behind early in the first quarter. Newton scored first with a 6-yard run. The Rams added another touchdown later in the quarter, making the score 14-0 at the end of the first.
Newton Extends their Lead
Newton continued to dominate in the 2nd quarter. The Rams scored two more touchdowns, making the score at halftime 28-0. The Bulldogs made several attempts to score but were unsuccessful.
Bulldogs Finally Get on the Board
Rockdale finally got on the scoreboard in the 3rd quarter when quarterback CJ Hicks connected with wide receiver Cade Stewart for a 14-yard touchdown pass. This made the score 28-7.
Newton Pulls Away
Newton answered back quickly, scoring another touchdown to make the score 35-7. The Bulldogs answered with a 1-yard touchdown run by running back Terrell Holmes, narrowing the score to 35-14.
Bulldogs Continue to Fight
Despite the deficit, the Bulldogs did not give up and continued to fight. They held Newton scoreless in the 4th quarter and forced a fumble late in the game. They took advantage of the turnover and scored on another touchdown pass from Hicks to Stewart, making the final score 42-21.

Despite the loss, the Bulldogs showed great heart and determination. They never gave up even when things were tough.
