Liam Livingstone performance a "coming-of-age knock" - Cook
Liam Livingstone's stunning century against Pakistan has been hailed as a "coming-of-age knock" by England captain Ben Stokes.
The 29-year-old smashed 103 off just 42 balls in England's six-wicket win in the second T20 international at Headingley on Friday. It was the fastest century by an England player in international cricket, and the second-fastest by any player in a T20 international.
Livingstone's innings was a remarkable display of power and timing, and it helped England to chase down Pakistan's total of 195 with seven balls to spare.
Stokes said after the match that Livingstone's innings was a "special knock" and that he is now a "world-class player".
"It was a coming-of-age knock from Liam," said Stokes. "He's always had the potential, but he's now starting to show it on a consistent basis. He's a world-class player now, and he's going to be a key player for us in the years to come."
Livingstone's performance was all the more impressive given that he was playing in only his second T20 international for England. He made his debut in the first match of the series against Pakistan on Tuesday, and he scored 28 off 17 balls.
Livingstone's century is the latest in a series of impressive performances for England in recent months. The team has won its last five T20 internationals, and it is now ranked No. 1 in the world.
