Lokomotiv beats Rubin Kazan 1-0
Lokomotiv Moscow scored a late goal to beat Rubin Kazan 1-0 in the Russian Premier League on Sunday.
Rifat Zhemaletdinov set up Maxim Timofeev for the winning goal in the 88th minute.
The win moved Lokomotiv up to eighth in the standings, while Rubin Kazan remained in 15th place.
Lokomotiv had the better of the chances in the first half, but they were unable to find the back of the net. The visitors came close to taking the lead in the 25th minute when Anton Miranchuk's shot hit the post.
Rubin Kazan goalkeeper Ivan Konovalov made a number of good saves to keep his team in the game. However, he was finally beaten by Timofeev's late strike.
Timofeev's goal was his first for Lokomotiv since joining the club from Akhmat Grozny in the summer.
The win was Lokomotiv's first in three league games. They will be looking to build on this result when they host Spartak Moscow in their next match on Saturday.
