SMU Cornerback Taken Off Field in Ambulance

Frisco, Texas --

SMU cornerback Arquan Bush was taken off the field in an ambulance after getting hurt on a special teams play in the first quarter of the Mustangs' game against Tulsa on Saturday.

Bush was injured while covering a punt return with 8:49 left in the first quarter. He was lying on the ground for several minutes before being taken off the field on a stretcher.

SMU coach Rhett Lashlee said after the game that Bush had a head injury and was being evaluated at a local hospital.

The injury occurred on a day when SMU was already thin at cornerback. Starting cornerback Isaiah Nwokobia is out for the season with an injury, and backup cornerback Cam Jones is also injured.

With Bush out, SMU was forced to play true freshman Jahari Rogers at cornerback.

The Mustangs went on to lose the game to Tulsa 31-24.
